I'm not sure what to say about this. I have to keep looking back at it. On one hand, it seems to be a composition of silhouettes; on the other hands, there is enough light in the shadows to show that these "silhouettes" aren't 2-dimensional after all. All the elements, the rocks, the boat, the tree, the bird -- seem to be telling a story of something. Everything seems relatively calm -- except the bird, who has been recently startled and is quite animated while the other elements are "still". And then, there's the water. The water, I think, is the real star of the image. It sort of lurks in the picture, providing only a sense of place for the other elements, but then suddenly it leaps forward and one notices there's a great deal of movement in it. So it's all very cool, very interesting, but there are unanswered questions. Is it something in the water that startled the bird? If so, what did it? If not, what did it?
