Description

2D Forum August Theme - A Sense Of Local Space What you see here comprises 7 photos taken with my digicam on the evening of 12th August and stitched together in nothing more fancy than good old Photoshop :-) This is the lane where I live... I live right at the end on the far left, in fact the distant tree and conifers (behind the car, on the left side of the road) are at the front of my garden. Another reason I'm posting this is partly for posterity, as a large and busy bypass is scheduled to cut these peaceful fields in two sometime in the next few years. Nothing anyone can do, too many people in the main town (a mile away) have campaigned for this for years in order to lessen the flow of in-town traffic, and it's only the country folk on the outskirts like us who are gonna be adversely affected. The bypass will stretch from the horizontal centre of this image, diagonally across the fields to the extreme right end of the image where it will intersect with the road and continue onward. There's no way it won't disturb the scene, and soundwise it will pollute what is now a fairly quiet place with busy high-speed traffic :P But of course this is happening all the time in our modern world. Thanks to the folks in the forum for advice - I wondered whether to keep this image as a straight photo or to manipulate it with a "painterly" treatment, but general consensus seems to be "why not do both?" ;-D So watch this space... thanks for looking :-)

You already know that I admire the stitching work you did with this! Great documentation, if your place is being destroyd by that bypass.

Wish I had done something like this on my UK trip. This just gives me the feeling of being there. Also essential for posterity. Has construction work started yet?

No, thankfully it hasn't yet! No idea when they'll get round to it actually. Would you believe the idea has been in the pipeline for over 60 years!!!
