Description

Thanks for all the comments on the first round of this one. This is the result of some of those suggestions and a great deal of frustration. I hope it was all worth it. One interesting tut note for some of you. The spash at the front of the ship is actually a palm tree with a completely transparent trunk and a water texture applied to the leaves. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Vue 4 on a Mac; Significant postwork in photoshop. Combined portions of previous image with new render, shifted colors and did some painting work. Excellent ship from Garcia.alain.free.fr (texture and lights by me)

Those waves are excellent. Very realistic. The palm tree idea is great. Found the image fairly dark... will check it on another monitor.

I like that lit up spray on the back wavetop, excellent nautical image!

Bravo, liked the first, love the second. Can imagine how challenging the changes must have been but the end result is sure worth it (course, I'm not the one that had the challenge)

Aar, the perfect storm. Very nice. Looks like some old maritime paintings. Rigging looks like it needs more antialiasing, but overlooking that, excellent work.

A little dark for me, but very nice and interesting. And the idea with the palm tree as a splash is worth testing. Super.

Clever trick with the palm tree, and I think the lights and the other changes have made a definite improvement on what was already an impressive image. I'm going to disagree with those who found it a little too dark (probably the old Mac calibration thing anyway) - I think the sombre tones as seen on my PC suit the nature of the subject and add to the sense of impending disaster.

I liked the first version very much, but I liked this one even more. Problem is I can't crank the rankings up any higher. I think that the lighting here (specially on the boat) is exceptional. The first one was a bit dark (which I liked), but this one is a lot more dramatic. Very well done!
