Description

This is one of the first images I started when I got Vue (3 months ago) and it is still a work in progress. The ice material is basically water with a white fade-out instead of blue. The only problem is the white does not take on the color of the light in the scene.

"One of the first images"... almost frightening!!! My original reaction was that the "fish-eye" effect was a bit overcooked, but I've changed my mind - it does add a lot to the sense of drama and space. I think you've done an excellent job on this very original image. The aurora borealis looks suitably spectacular, the water is pretty damn good, but best of all - that floating foreground ice. I once managed to pull of a similar effect in Terragen, but have not seen it done so well as this in Vue. I love the way you've handled the slowly melting effect on the shape and translucency of the material, especially in the slightly less striated ice in the right half of the picture. Really impressive. If this is after 3 months, I can't wait to see what you will be producing in a year's time! In the meanwhile, this one gets a vote from me.
