I was always a huge Davy Crockett fan so I was very pleased to visit the Alamo back in the mid 90's... and NEVER realized until I was there that Crockett was listed as just an honory Colonel. These Texans fought and died for true American values and I'll always honor them in my heart... BUT wouldn't it have been nice if the Commander of Goliad had the same determination (more accurately - back bone) of Colonel William Travis and Colonet Jim Bowie and joined forces with the Alamo defenders as had been intended? If they had, instead of 200 Americans dying in the Alamo and 800 Americans being outright executed at Goliad there would be have been 1,000 Americans fighting about 2,500 to 3,000 Mexicans - which in my book would have evened up the playing field. Oh well...

I saw this back in the 70's (er, I was much younger at the time)..the interesting thing is it's smack dab in the middle of downtown, surrounded by skyscrapers..kinda changes the mood..;) btw, there's another Alamo movie coming out in the next few months, with Billy Bob Thorton and someone (a few someones, it's an ensemble pic..;) should prove interesting. Viva Tejas! -Texan and proud of it..;)
