Description
My first "exploration" that I am the tiniest bit proud of. I wish I could have made that "wisp" of atmosphere/cloud "streak" better in front of the "centerpiece".
It's a small piece...I didn't see much need to bother people with spending time uploadiing a large file that was boring. But I like it. I entered it in a small contest on a space gaming site.
Thanks to Armand for a wonderful world to explore...Arakis...I could spend days there. It's like the city of Venice...a photograph around every corner.

Awesome picture...I love the overall foreign planet feeling :)

A larger frame would have been nice. Very nice find and good use of the shadows.

Unfortunatly, clouds don't show up in the RTR, which kinda makes them a crap shoot...The image is well composed, and I agree with Vandaler, the use of shadows works well here.. Watch your camera FOV...If you go to wide, it will distort your moon and sun.. If you want to do a wide angle shot, it's best not to have a sun or moon in the FOV...Otherwise keep your FOV to 75 or less.. One more thing, and this really isn't directed at you or this image... Not every MJW image has to have a moon in it!!! Sure, we all do it,because we can... But every scene? I will applaude you for putting the monolith just a tad off center..Too many folks put the focal object directly in the center.. It doesn't have to be in the middle to be a focal point..

Truly Stunning Pic - what a world!

Nice choice of focal point and composition of image. Agree with the other guys ...shadows work very well. Doing some quick low quality renders helps in deciding about the clouds, etc. I know I usually do a few quick smaller low res renders before a final high res....just to check the detail is what I want. RTR and photo-realistic renders can be very different. Great first MJW render posted!!! Welcome aboard ;)

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I make use of LQ rendering to get a feel for the shot. Sometimes it can really be surprising due to the low poly count of the RTR as one roams. Sometimes I use the whole screen and other times I crop what I think are critical spots when I do the LQ render. When ready for the real thing, I go watch a movie...LOL.
