Description

This is one of my favourite rooms in my English mansion.
OK, I lied.... It's not my English mansion, it's my French mansion. I went to London this morning and had time to kill, so walked around the National Gallery. One picture that caught my eye was "Man seated reading at a table in a lofty room" by either Rembrandt or a student. I liked the way the light came through the window. SO this is based on that. I did think about showing the light rays catching the dust, but couldn't be bothered to wait for the render. You'll have to make do without.

Aye, it's a cool scene though! Perhaps get more textures for books, or just make Brycean books? (in order to get rid of the repetition...) You can pause renders, too, hope to see the volumetric light version someday!

English...French... no matter. It is gorgeous! Such wonderful warm textures and that light is spectacular! Vote!!

Nicely done, I like the lighting. I think this scene would be worth the insane render time to do the visible rays.

Wow! Definitely looks like photo, but I think you could do more with lighting- the room itself looks a bit dark.

More lighting? I was worried there was too much. I had trouble getting the ambience down to this level and still think it's too much. I would have liked to have make the only parts visible be where the sunlight lay. As for pausing renders... yeah, but that doesn't reduce the render time and I'm one for a very quick fix. Thanks one and all for the comments.

Draw, this is really beautiful. I'd go not with the visible lightrays, but maybe with soft shadows. The room will acquire a bit more of clarity and, IMO of course, the image will become excellent+vote instead of "only" excellent :)

Great 'Room With A View' Phil. Like the touch of hanging an 'older' image on the wall. Is your own workspace as cleaned-up as this one :)

No need for lightrays. This piece works better without. Perhaps some saturation where the light is strongest, but thats just an idea. Simply put, a superb render! Very fine work. :)
