Description
The forest of Vravrona was the favorite sporting ground for
kings and princes alike, back then in the Mycenean Age.
Agamemnon, High King of the Acheans and ruler of Mycenae
was hunting in this beautiful forest when he stunned by a
magnificent encounter. A young stag with golden gleaming
horns was roaming calmly in a forest opening. "Not even
Artemis -(hybris)-can stop me", boasted and thrusted his
spear to the rare animal. Agamemnon had vowed to the Goddess
that will sacrifice the best creature he encounters to her because
of his newborn daughter Iphigenia.
Now the tragic twist.
Just of mere chance, this deer happened to be the favorite of Artemis!
So the vengeful goddess asked in return, some years after, the sacrifice of
Agamemnon's own daughtern in order to let the Greek fleet sail
to Troy. But that's another story...
