Description
This a re-render of my previous post with area shadow instead of soft shadow as suggested by pingo, LCGuy and 3D_Explorer. Total render type was 21 hours 38 min. compared to 55 minutes for soft shadow. Think I need light bouncing up from the table to lighten the shadows on the front panels of the equipment. I should have rendered the shadow on a separate layer so I can play with the shade. For comparison, the link to the previous image is:
soft shadow

I think I prefer the style of the original, but this one is a bit more realistic! Great work...

I don't see my call sign on that wall ! It's VE2TAB from Montreal. We've probably never get in touch... maybe one day ? Who knows... I'll have to get a new rig first ! Brings back many memories to me...

hey Sesh. There's a few things you can do about that area light. You can increase the area shadow width, and you can decrease the Area Shadow Samples, all the way down to 10. It's all under the shadow tab in the Attribute mannager. reducing the samples will greatly speed up your rendertimes. when you increase the width, you might need more than 100 in the light. The bounce sounds like a good idea:) cheers, pingo.

Very nice.. yes.. the shadows do help add to the realism. Once again excellent modelling and texturing. Truly well done!
