Description

My Entry for the Winter Cover Contest. Since it didn't recieve any mention, I am free to post it. Heh, not all bad after all. This image depicts a rose springing through the snow covered ice in the midst of winter. The water flowing around it was done using metaballs. The small sprinkle of white stardust on the rose was just a small photoshop edit. Other than that and some color correction, the image is all bryce. I'd like to render a larger image, but I can't find the original file. I've looked everywhere, but it appears to be lost. Good thing I didn't win eh? 'Dust particles dancing in the sunset settle on the chair where yesterday you sat dressing your memory with particles of stars it is a brief moment of eternal beauty witnessed through my tears of grief. The air is perfumed with remnants of you the cat goes from room to room searching, the dog lays by your chair, waiting and listening, and one bright rose blooms beyond winter's window. I feel you beside me urging me to go on. The sun has said farewell and the stars begin to play. One races across the sky, a supernova making room for tonight a new star has been called home. Now who is to prop me up and dry my tears?'

There's nothing like self promotion Ornlu and to be honest this one was worth it. This is an excellent example of Bryce at it's best. Beautiful effect you've got going on the melting ice. It is a winner. Now I should go post my image. 8)

amazing work man. Im still wondering why this didnt get runner up or honorable mention, this, along with 3 others I was sure were going to place. Well, its an excellent image nontheless, awesome colors and layout love how the focus falls on the flower but theres still alot to look at around it. Ive decided to print it, cut it out and tape it on the cover when i get it in the mail:)

Lol, thanks woodhurst. Though I am completely baffled by the contest results, I have to agree with you, so long as I have my bryce and my photoshop, I am still content. They could have put a nviatwas on the cover and I'd still be able to live with it...Though it'd be a very fragile existance I'll tell you that much. heh.

To me it looks like a photo because you have the little specks that appear to be frost on the lens. Its even has an awsome DOF to make it a super render.

Excellent! I love the movement, it portrays like it just burst threw, and a snapshot of that moment, you have captured. Upmost compliments, I wish this would have made it.

Truely a wonderful and well crafted image Ornlu. The pov and dof is well executed as are the textures used. The rose looks terrific and the grasses are excellent. Overall, on very well done render. Enjoyed viewing this, thanks for sharing. ---- Scott.
