Description

Hi everyone! It was a long time that I wanted to try some futuristic cityscape, and I had lots of fun modeling the buildings with C4D. I encountered some problems with the atmosphere (the Environment object seems a bit limited in that sense), so I used Universe Image Creator to postwork some fog and the lightflares over the original. ________ Rendered at 3840x3072 for print purposes and then reduced with PSP8, it took about 5 hours rendering with AA best. The elevated streets are sweep NURBS, the buildings are polygon-modeled starting from cubes and cylinders. I hope you like it. Thanks a lot for stopping by and, as usual, any comments and/or criticism is more than welcome. Have a wonderful weekend, and... May Your Renders Be Short! :) Stefano

There's a very good feel to this one. I like the diffusion you've used. And the cold glass and metal texture is very effective. Great model, great render.

Well some one should say: Pretty cool:)...but after 5 hours rendering I must tell you, dear Stefano, it is more than wonderful. I like all - specialy lights. And you see a bright future what is good as I am tired of bad things and dark images, violence and empty nudity...Excellent work...and make some more.

Good stuff :) Love the feeling of vertical depth - as though the ground is a long way down.

WOW!! this definitely has a magical city lights atmosphereic feel to it. Very glad I happened to stumble upon it in the Whats New Gallery. (and what happened to ebot? Has he fallen asleep? You are on my favorites list, and I never got a notice of your new posting) Anyway, excellent work Stefano, your C4D skills are on a level with your masterful Bryce skills.

Very nice POV and buildings, nice busy nightlife atmosphere. The one thing I would criticize is the bright pure white neone, which, being so pure, detract from the atmosphere in my mind, especially the one circumscribing the left building. I would keep some of those that are lights on buildings or projecting light but the few long line bright white ones detract to me. Though that is a matter of taste, not of your skill. Otherwise, very nice.

I can only look at this render and read all of the impressive critiques and wonder. Although it is a good render, there are so many things that could be improved upon. It is not excellent, or even great, for that matter. I am very sorry to burst your bubble but I feel that the "buddy system" here at Renderosity leaves most artists with a false sense of greatness. It does look good but lacks the truely professional, detailed lighting of an "excellent" render. Additionally, although it is very detailed, I am missing something in the details of the windows. I am sorry but I see this render, and see the 25 or so comments and think that something is wrong here. Either you have a core group of friends that is not willing to give you an "honest critique" or the community is seriously lacking in skilled artists who think that a good render deserves an excellent rating. Once again, I apologize for my harsh comments. -- 3d_e

I agree with 3d explorer on this one, the render itself is desaturated, the windows look to big and so the scale of this image is effected by that, for a city the building are all very clean and plastic like, perhaps add traffic of some kind, small ships just to increase the overall scale, and what are the white lines, they just look weird to be honest, I think removing the white lines and what appear to be roads would improve this image a lot, sorry for the long list of crits, I'm just trying to motivate you into making this image excellent
