Description
***The Mission Statement***
The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvannia is an historical public garden and educational institution. It promotes an understanding of the relationship between plants and people through programs that integrate science, art and the humanities. The Arboretum conducts four major activities: teaching, research, outreach and horticultural display. As the official arboretum of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Morris Arboretum provides research and outreach services to state agencies, community institutions and to citizens of Pennsylvania and beyond.
As this is the final posting of the series, it is dedicated to the Arboretum's founders, Quaker brother and sister, John and Lydia Morris. As they had a true hand in all aspects of the original design of this amazing place, one imagines they would be well pleased that their garden is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
Thanks for joining me on this walkabout, hope you enjoyed! I truly appreciate all the kind words and encouragement.....!

Bless the Quakers. Anti-slavery, pro-education, stretcher bearers in war time - they've given us a lot. Thanks for the tour of their Arboretum - it's been beautiful. I think my favourite of your shots has been the bee on the hydrangea.

I wonder if the statues, when the night falls, and the world is still... I wonder if they move, and sit on the grass to have a chat... They seem so ditstant standing there, immoveable, like they can be at few steps and never to turn to look at their companion... Brother and sister... I really think they move in the night time, and talk about the fruits of their work when they were alive...
