Description
Well, here is the first WIP of my frigate, USS Constitution. I started it last year with the cannon (which some of you may remember, and that I include here again). It has taken a long time to do, since I am a beginner with Cinema 4D and the 3D genre, and has a very long way to go. I made a stupid beginner's mistake and had just one version saved on a zip disk, which became corrupted and I had to start from scratch again. I still have the files for the masts, stern windows, anchors, and the cannon, so that was good. So, lesson: SAVE, SAVE, SAVE !!!! In multiple locations!!! I am using diagrams and photos from the ship's 1990s reconstruction to try to accurately and realistically build the ship in 3D, just like I did as a kid building her in wood and plastic. You can bet that I will be front and center in the theatre next week for the movie, Master and Commander, soaking up (no pun intended) the visuals of the real ships, and the battles, on the screen!!! Well, let me know what you think....

Beautiful hull! Especially the head rails which have to be correct or the whole ship looks wrong! Keep up the good work, I'll be stopping back!

You have an impressive start in modelling, just remember, dirt and grime are a major part of reality and should be represented when you have the finl ship built and textured up. Awesome for a beginner in 3D, but you're only a beginner at 3D, I suspect a long time hobby as a model builder in real life and likely a few books of sketches as well...keep up the good work.
