Description

Here, my prize, the Black Widow. Isn't she lovely?.. and so deadly. Her kiss is fifteen times as poisonous as that of the rattlesnake. You see her venom is highly neurotoxic, which is to say that it attacks the central nervous system causing intense pain, profuse sweating, difficulty in breathing, loss of consciousness, violent convulsions and, finally... death. You know what I think I love the most about her is her inborn need to dominate, to possess. In fact, immediately after the consummation of her marriage to the smaller and weaker male of the species she kills and eats him - *laugh* oh, she is delicious.. and I hope he was! Such power and dignity - unhampered by sentiment. If I may put forward a slice of personal philosophy, I feel that man has ruled this world as a stumbling demented child-king long enough! And as his empire crumbles, my precious Black Widow shall rise as his most fitting successor! VINCENT PRICE

Absolutely beautiful! Talk about girl power, huh? :))))))))) She's gorgeous and the capture is perfect, Matt. Love the web and the way her body came out all shiny and really black, and love your new 'frame' too! Very cool work :)))

Sounds like someone admires these creepy crawlies.. I agree with PapaG, want to squish it. We have way too many of them here, but they hide so well. Anyways, great shot! Love the thin webs and the colors =)

Everything is said to herself, so i'd like to add, that your "framing" looks good. Creative new way .. at least to me ;). Keep some distance please, i'd like to see more of your work :))

I met a Black Widow once ...through the Personal Colunm...She had run out of Lover's ...sigh...but once She bit into Me...My Nuerotoxicallititty....caused Her to curl up into a wee Fur Ball....like the type a Cat may dislodge, whilst Liiiiiiiiiicking itself. Great Shot Man....and Vinnie Price is My Hero swoon..."Men! Stand Up against Spiders"!!!

Incredible picture. Old Vincent kind of overdoes it's power, one woman in Naramata was bitten three times in one summer (she moved). This has to be the definitive picture of a black widow though, congratulations.

I catch and kill about 30-40 of these a Summer in my garage. I hate these little bitches but at least we don't have Funnel Web Spiders here in the states.

Wonderful shot and also your words. Please don't splatt it! But i think, they don't eat everytime the male. Sometimes the male is faster or know the rhythm of here, so he can escaped. Beauty can blind you, but that's the nature! Human Black Widows are already excist. And i love the challenge. That's nature! And maybe i survive or will be eaten!. That's nature! Love nature!!! BTW- We don't have these kind of spiders in our regions.
