Description
She will survive this winter, she will hibernate!
-->Note--> Look at here second left frontleg, she lost it in the past somehow! Now she is growing/regenerating a new one, not as pretty as the old-one but usefull!

I hope, she will survive. Even if that old lady isn't a real beauty. Great macro with perfect DOF PapaG! :)

LOL @ Cyn's comment!... Never heard they can regenerate new legs... this is astonishing! BTW... think it's her second RIGHT frontleg and the one of her right backlegs looks regenerated too to me... but I'm not sure about this. Your shot is just perfect! Compliments!

Wonderful macro, Papa. It will be interesting to see what happens here next spring. After two mild winters, we had the most spiders I've ever seen this year. This winter looks like a record cold one, we'll see how they do in the spring.
taurus
Excellent shot & great DOF. Who needs 8 legs anyway !!!!

Excellent looking photo. That is a big spider with beautiful and colorful patterns. I did not realize spiders can regenerate legs. That is amazing. I also didn't realize that they hibernate. That is one big spider with beautiful and colorul patterns. I have learned something new today...TY :-)

Three of them I watched in my garden this year. Didn't know they hibernate, or that they can grow new extremities. Thanks for telling and showing in this excellent capture, PapaGuru. :)
