Description

Okay, let me explain about that whole "Ross Lucci" title thing. Since my Josie poster looks so good with the border and title area I put on it, I decided to try doing that with all my work from now on. It gives it a polished, completed look and allows me to practice a couple graphic arts skills I'm weak at: lettering and layout. It has nothing to do with stroking my own ego. No, really. I also wanted to try messing around with an unfinished look. I've seen it done before, but I'm not sure if it works with this sort of Nagel-esque style. Any comments on that aspect would be very much appreciated. Photoshop 7

I'm a very big Nagel fan, and I think you did an outstanding capture of his style and quality -- and the unfinished look was done quite well -- some of his work has that same quality to it -- intentionally as well -- and you picked up on that "not quite unfinished" but still getting there aspect in the few he did that way. All in all, a great piece. It jumps out at you. And the border, btw, completes it. Damn the ego bit -- it looks good, and it is polished. Anyone whines about it, give them and egg and instructions on hatching. ;-)

Really beautiful work, you've captured Nagel's style exactly. The unfinished look (to me) always gives a more flowing feel, with a lovely sense of grace and elegance. The poster style touches look soooo professional, if I saw this in a shop, I'd certainly buy it. You really ought to think about contacting a publisher with your work.

The unfinished look works exceptionally well with this style, the fade out is a reallly nice variation on your beautiful technique!
