Description
Here is another shot of the Black Widow. Anybody have any suggestions for better lighting for more detail besides outdoors?
I folded a Bounce sheet 4 times then used it to cover the flash bulb.

Sorry, not knowing the room, i can't provide any helpful tipps. But perhaps with F/30, flashing her directly would work?
Like that shot even if didn't want to get that close to her.

Pfff, many roads that lead to Rome. Qeustion is what do you exactly want, in the lighting aspect. Black furry animals are hard to capture with details, like black cats. Dont know about Black Widows. If you could get a reflecting paper (white) under the spider, it would refelct some bounced light to the downside of the spider. you could also try some little lamps from the other side from where you stand to separate the spider from the background. Like you do in portraits. 1 flash 100 % percent from one side, the second from the other side 50 % and a headlight, behind and above the "model" to make it lose from the background.

Well, Kropot gave you enough information to experiment with so ... waiting...!

Beautifully done already! I'm still looking for one of these gals to photograph. Love the details of the thin webbing. Wonderful macro shot! =)

Kropot gave loads of info.... assuming you don't have actually lighting set-up and no off camera flash... a simple desk lamp or two should do the trick along with some white board to act as reflectors. Take care to set the White Balance on your camera appropriately. Use a tripod if possible.

Your Black Widow Rocks! Did You meet Her in the Personal Pages? You could always bring this Specimen to My Bathroom Studio, the White of the Toilet Seat, gives excellent reflective Light, and, I have "Posted" my own "Card Board Box Studio" in the Forum some time back...(Under Patent Law)...but, the Bath Room Studio would be Your Bestest Bet...I could scrub Your Back too :]

Okay, I love spiders and I shoot a lot of pictures of them...but you got one I wouldn't even think of getting near! Not even to take a picture! I'd rather sqash it...cause of it being so deadly...you have some guts! Wonderful shot!
