Description

3.00 pm. on june 19, 1767 and Captain Samuel Wallis is the first European to set eyes upon Otaheiti (Tahiti). Bougaenvillea and James Cook would soon follow to further chart and investigate the island(s). All described Tahiti as exceptionally beautiful, I tried to capture the island's feel with 7 terrains and I dont know how many trees. Only thing is: I HAD to use "The Victory" as its the only GOOD period vessel I have (sorry) 100% Bryce 5, no post. Thanks for viewing, have a great week-end, Pierre

Excellent image Pierre, especially the ship and it's mats. I really like the fog/mist to as they add an air of mystery.

Just one comment - Tahiti is green, green, green. The mountains you have here seem too brown to me. And the water should be a brilliant turquoise blue. But those are minor criticisms on what is an excellent image.

Wow, she's a beauty! (The ship). Beautiful mood, and I just love palm trees in the scene!

Don't forget, if the ship COULD get this close in to shore to anchor, she would need to have her anchors in use. You forgot to have her anchored, so right now she is almost floating ashore. Actually, most coasts of islands are very shallow, so any ship of a decent size would anchor further out, using her boats to ply back and forth to shore. And where are the natives and their boats? The ship would be swarming with native boats greeting her...

Extremely well done, although I didn't know Victory made this passage...... I used this render to demonstrate to our elderly neighbour the beauty of 3d CG.....she actually understood. Congratulations!

I was cruisin' thumbnails when I spotted my beloved Victory. Been aboard her several times in Portsmouth. You can put her anywhere you want... she can handle it. Tahiti? Why not! Heck, beach her with a 30 degree list to starboard, she would still look good. I think this piece is Fantastic! If Cook could have pried her away from Nelson, she would have been there, believe me.
