Description
Comments and Crits welcome. This renders quite quickly so maybe I will do a swift animation this weekend. Please tell me what can be improved (rahter than just finding faults) so I can make it slightly more interesting.

how's about a bump map on those stones. it looks too machined.

Reminds me of Serious Sam. A better bump map would be cool too.

Nice modeling... Although, it looks like it is hovering over the sand (maybe that's what you want?) not sitting "in" it. Notice the bottom edge of the tomb - wouldn't the sand dunes cause a slight wavy line there? Also the shadows on the sand seen too flat for such a bumpy surface Maybe try modeling the dunes... in real life sand piles up against stuff. ;o)

Wow... This is hot! Excellent! I really love your palms, (glowing) sand, models... nearly everything. Maybe, you could add a waveteture on the sand, or some footsteps... I also think, it would be nice, if you could add more space around the palms (They are actually not inside!). How are your lightsettings in this image?

Thanks for the comments guys, I will explain why it looks like it is floating: I rendered it with backdrop only radiosity, so to get the rays to hit the side of the main model I had to render it in two parts; first the ground model, then the main bit. The land took so long to render, that I turned radiosity off and was a lot quicker. There is already a bump map - I wanted the towers to have a whitewashed look, with less bumpmap.

Terrific work! My suggestions on the actual design... if this is a temple of some sort, you'll need space for the faithful to mill around and do their worshiping thing. Perhaps you might want to consider widening some of the walkways or adding a mosaic patterned plaza somewhere? What about some "back-of-house" structures? A temple complex might have priests and other folks that would help run and maintain the place. How about some sleeping areas, a kitchen, dining hall, workshop, treasury... yada, yada, yada. Not sure how large this actually is, but the two steps up front are a bit of a giveaway on scale, if you increase your number of steps that might help make this feel larger (typically steps are 150mm to 220mm between treads).

haha! Tis a tomb not a temple. The towers have no doors since they were sealed after the burial, the only acccessible bit is the centre aisle which can be rached from an undergorund passage, blocked by the main entrance building. Excellent point about scale though. I had thought of it, but got side tracked texturing.
