Description

This was shot a couple of years back in when I was in London. The statuary in some of the old churchyards over there was spectacular to say the least. If memory serves me correctly, this particular marker was from the mid 1800's (sometime around 1850-1870 I think), and was just one example of the care and craft that went into the gravestones in the Victorian era. Some of my friends say I have a morbid streak because I've photographed so many churchyards, but to me they miss the point... It's not all about "ohh... spooky stuff....", but the beauty and workmanship of the old stones. Ah well, guess I shouldn't complain too much, after all art is a very subjective field. Shot with my trusty Pentax K-1000 on Illford XP 400 asa film with a 50mm lens. As always, thanks for stopping by and having a look.

i like the texture of the stone and the background adds a certain mood to the b&w.

Great shot. I like the contrast between the stone work and plant life
