Description

This image comes from a bit closer to home than the last one I posted, New Orleans, Louisiana to be precise. I was amazed at some of the statues and crypts in Metairie Cemetery... so much beauty in an otherwise somber place. I loved this particular statue, they was an air of peace around this crypt that wasn't present in other areas around the grounds. Shot with a Pentax K-1000 on Illford 400 asa film using a 80-250 mm zoom lens. Straight scan of the print with sepia toning done in Photoshop (sorry, ran out of sepia toner and this shot begged for it). Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

It's funny how many people think nothing about statues, however I find a very strange beauty in them, as they stand in grace they've seen so many things yet speak no words. The eyes always seem to give it away. Lovely shot!

The statue seems to have a faint smile, and conveys (to me, at least) a sense of serenity and wisdom, as if saying "There is nothing to fear in this place". Beautiful.
