Description
I really like George Petty's pin-ups, but there's no color to them. The Fruit Crate Labels of around the same time period (1920's - 50's) are the opposite, they were made to jump out at you. (Boo! Buy an Apple!) Since I've never seen a real Petty Girl on a fruit crate label, I thought I would make one.
The pose is by me, based on a Petty pin-up from a zippo lighter. The swimsuit top is by PhilC, the bottoms from DAZ. The ballet slippers are Petty's most recognizable feature, so thank DAZ for giving them away. The orange is from ERIK0815ERIK.
The post work was done in PaintShopPro8. The halftone(s) was (were) created from CMYK seperation channels. Each channel was halftoned with the correct photo-offset angle (C105, M75,Y90,K45). They were inverted and colorized. Finaly were overlayed (darkened) to create the correct pattern. The main image is a GIf because JPG compression caused a very very bad Moire.
I hope I've accurately captured a Fruit Crate Label. I've only seen them on line, so I'm not sure if the lithographs are halftoned this harshly, or even halftoned at all. I've based the technical aspects of this image on an old text book, Photo-Offset Fundamentals by John E. Cogoli (c) 1960. Hopefully I've got it right.
Thanks for viewing!

Looks flawless to me, and Covington KY is about three miles from where I'm sitting right now. Love the Halftone!
