Description

"The victim was discovered on a sub level just above the auxilliary exhaust port. Most of the environment suit was torn away and no trace of his helmet, nor his sidearm, could be found. Over 90% of the victim's skin had been eaten away. Not burned or stripped off... but dissolved, like it had been eaten away. They would know more once the scanners in the medical bay completed the autopsy." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This set was modeled and rendered in LightWave 3D. Modeling on this environment is about 20% done, but I thought I'd put this up to get more ideas and suggestions. There's going to be a lot of overhead equipment, and several consoles and monitors all over the place. The slab is on a pivot arm that can also tuck away into some kind of compartment. This is intended to be a medical lab, so I don't think I want to put any shackles or restraints here. I needed a body to check for scale so I imported the P4 Male and gave him a custom texture

You seem to have thought of everything :) Great design, and cool ideas, as usual! Can't wait to see it finished!! :)

That looks cool, I hope this 'connects' with the containment chamber so you could combine both sets into a large medical centre type set. You need some kind of poseable arm thing that glides along the top of him, kind of a neuro scanner type thing. Or perhaps, have that as a seperate chamber that he could go in. A good example is at the beginning of Ghost in the Shell or in Akira when Tetsuo is being scanner by the doctor guy. Looking great though, as ever.

LOL@Zeno I had similar thoughts! The lighting is great, perhaps it could be a little more blue? Apart from that we all know you're going to add like a thousand extra details :-P Brilliant work.

Awesome!!!! Really like that pork texture and the lighting is great. As far as input goes, how about a few screens with different views of the body; X-ray, EEG, ect. Just an idea, can't wait to see the update. Nice work, buddy. :0)

Thanks for all your comments and input. I've updated the image and added on a ring type scanning device (as suggested) that slides along a fixed floor rail. Haven't completed the console for this ring thing yet.

I'm afraid that the body texture isn't a real uv map, just a very careful combination of seamless tile image mapping and alpha channels, with several layered procedural bump maps. Although I must admit the skin looks pretty decent even from a medium shot.

Hey, I like the addition of the ring, looks much more businesslike.

very interesting work M! The flesh/skin is well done. Why don't you try a more metallic shader for the control panel/console? it looks a bit "plastic" right now.

Mhhh ! Cool scene, I like the the textures you use, especially for the ground and the body . The volumetric light is just a bit too dark on the end the grdiant, but it's cool too !

Looks great moe cool model,my suggestion would be not overload it with equipment tho. Id put some apatures at the Head console and a fiew more around the ringstructure. Id make the ring moveable an hinges so it can slide over the body hehe But then again your interiors look always so realistic you really dont need any suggestion ;)

Looking very cool Moe. You need some funky 3d holographic style displays that show where the scanner part is scanning - to aid with user diagnosis.

I would envisage a medical bay floor to be very smooth and polished. Also bright flourescent lighting. Hope this helps. Looks great by the way, stopping by the fridge as the texture making process has given me the munchies...

The skin is really good looking, also, all other materials. The red lightbeam and the leds are very well done. Have you used a glow effekt on some textures?. If you want to read critic, I have to say, that the difference between the texturing on the ground and the consoles texture is to high (for me). Also, I dont like the button, who looks like from a video-controller (the round one on the console left).

Your medical bay is looking like it has a very good start. I love the ring-scanner, the burnt body textures is excellent, and the controls so far are very cool, however the round dial may be a bit big (my eyes can't keep away from it), unless that was your intention. The room is a bit dark as if the patient died and the body has been kept locked up for the night. The surface that the patient is laying on seems like a hard surface. Besides my nick-picking, this is top notch modeling! I truly can't wait to see the finished product.

Updated yet again... I've reduced the ring dial and added supports to the scanner console. I've also completed the overhead lightsource which will have a few more surprises added on.

I am really looking at this from a dark and grungey style, which I know isn't really appropriate for a sterile medical environment but it's a lot creepier! My inspiration for this environment comes from some really old concept sketches from the Nostromo of "Alien", but I've borrowed lots of Anime elements.

Thank you all very much for your feedback. :o)
