The old lady watches April pick up her sword and rise painfully to face the remaining orc. Instantly Katerina can tell her young rescuer is in trouble; her breathing is shallow and increasingly panicked, red bubbles start to form around the stab wound in her chest. All signs point to the young heroine's lung having been punctured, verging on collapse. Her time is running out. April takes a few swaggering steps toward the orc. Each step brings a new level of agony to her body, each breath leaks more air into her chest cavity, increasing the burden on her collapsing lung. She struggles to raise her sword, but all strength has departed her. Tears of desperation stream down her cheek. She is dying...but she refuses to leave these people to suffer their fate. Katerina finds herself staring at the young woman, awed by her unbreakable resolve. The time has come to act. "The tide has turned, girls," Katerina announces to the fairy-like creatures around her. She gestures toward the orc that has been guarding them. "Deal with him. And hurry." A white light and a sound like far-off music suddenly begin to fill the room. Behind April, a small voice clears its throat and begins to whisper to her.
