Description

all textures on the object painted in photoshop, c.a 9 hours rendering with medium antialias (1Ghz 512Ram) city models (dystopia) by moebius. (THANKS!!!) the basic concept was an escape from heart in an artificial atmosphere, at the end it looked like this.. what do you think?

< Nice work. Reminds me of "Silent Running". > Shayhurs, you got there before me. What I like is that the look isn't excessively "3D". The area around the exhausts, for example, could pass for a painted image. A couple of thoughts - would a little more opacity on the dome, and a slightly flatter curve, look more realistic? And should the structure have a lattice of some kind (geodesic?) to support it - again la "Silent Running"?

thanks to all :) I've never seen silent running,I've found a site right now..:) steerpike: thanks for the note "the look isn't excessively 3d" it is a big compliment for me!! :) actually the fire effect was rendered in a single pass separated from all the rest and compisited on photoshop (I dont know why but volumetrics were not working while raytracing shadows) maybe this contributed to that "painted" look..however more will follow!!

Really like this piece! Would make a better cover for "Cities in Flight" than the actual old one I remember! Well, other than spin-dizzies didn't have rocket exhausts :-)

Great painterly quality image. There was a whole series of books based on "Cities in Flight" by James Blish, I believe, on this subject.
