Description
This woman, finding her husband (trussed in a bin bag) killed during the Tet Offensive and unearthed from a mass grave, howls inconsolably. This is the culmination of the battle for Hearts and Minds which has neither abated or been won. Instead the graves pile up, the widows morn still. When will the 'war for peace' end?
Original photograph found in the book 'The Best of LIFE' (1975 edition). Original photograph by Larry Burrows, taken in 1969. Repainted in ochres.
Painter 8 and PS 7. The 4th work in my 'Natural Disaster' series.

As always.....amazing work. I can't imagine what she's feeling, I would never want to be in that situation, I'd probably die from a broken heart. Great work. Cris =)

Nicely done. Most of the people want to see naked chicks and thus look this one over. Powerful! Keep up the good work.

very moving- and as pertinent today as when it was taken.

They say it's beautiful, but it's not. They think it's only a picture, but it's not. They think it's only the pain of the thousands who've suffered - they're wrong. It's your pain. It's you who's suffering there. And I'd gladly trash all the pain and all its fruits just for one clear, soft, light-hearted laugh from you. Then I can go. Can't they see the screaming behind your paintings? Some of them can't. But what is sadder, it is YOU that can't see the hands held towards you by those who hear - and they are many. You can't because you have the painting in front of your eyes. There is hope - there is hope somewhere inside you - so don't hide, don't hide your hope either - let it emerge - and you emerge with it.

It's not fair in any way. It's life thoe and it sucks. I wish you didn't have to go becase I rarly see emotion envoking images like yours. Every time I view a picture of yours I can feel that a person has felt what you have expressed, or atleast a few have. I'm hooked on your work and I can't wait to find a way to get some printed and put them on my walls. You are an amazing artist in my eyes and i could care less what anyone else thinks.

Lahavana..said it..hon..where there is loss of hope there is loss of light and all you can smell is not the scent of tears or taste it's sweet saline.. all you can do is smell ashes of a life lost in the dim. Don't let it happen...where there is light of hope there is less atrocity in the world. Let in some of that light..to warm you baby.
