Description

On May 19, 1836 a band of warriors including Comanche, Kiowa and Kichai allies attacked Parker's Fort in Central Texas, killing several of its inhabitants. The Comanches seized five captives, including nine year old Cynthia Ann. Eventually Cynthia was taken as wife to Chief Peta Nocona and to them was born a son, Quanah. For almost 25 years Cynthia lived as a Comanche. Her son became a great war chief, famous for his bravery and cunning leadership. Quanah was the last Comanche Chief to bring his people to the reservation, where he again proved himself a great leader, negotiating for the rights of his people with the white leaders. This is a tribute and my small way of keeping Cynthia and Quanah's spirit and memory alive. Thanks so much for viewing!
