I work mostly in animation and have finally started work on a movie that I have been planning for several years... only to get interupted by work for a client on visual effects for a film. So the next thing on my plate is MY movie and a Batman fan film.BIO I have been working in CG for about 12 years. For the last seven or eight I have been focusing on animation (3D and 2D). I have a bachelors degree in music composition and Jazz performance. In my personal work, I am working on a sci-fi short for which I will do all of the graphics and compose the original score. I have no tentative date for completion currently but I hope to have a large part of the work done for Winter 2004-05 (both music and scenes). By then the release shouldn't be too far behind. Some of the score is now completed and will soon be availabe online.

OK, to start with, try making the entire scene white, instead of black. Think of a cologne ad. I like that Glass model, but for some reason it is kind of blurry. Is this a still shot from an animation with motion blur turned on? Another thing that might look cool, is frosting the edges of the glass sculpture and adding a slight bump map. These are just suggestions, I hope I have helped.

Realism is difficult specially when working with objects that are familiar. Having worked with a glass sculptor for a few years, I've noticed a few things about glass reflective and refractive properties at the edges are very different from the facing surfaces. It's also very difficult to get commercial glass that is 100% clear, most times, because of the imperfections in the chemical/mineral content you'll end up with a slight green tinge. That little sculpture of yours would actually be a bit difficult to execute in real life (either agressive sand blasting, or precut polished pieces clear bonded with uv cure adhesive). Don't think you could manage this with slumping the glass though.
You also might want to check the reflection cast by the sculpture on the wood veneer surface, it doesn't look transparent anymore.
