Hi folks. I am glad that you stopped by my page. My name is Tim.BIOI just wanted to share with you a little info about myself. I am a pretty reserved fellow, so I don't ask a lot of questions or make many comments. When I do, I usually really like what I see, or am very passionate about an issue (sort of like a juggernaut, hard to get going, then...). This is truly an amazing community here at Renderosity. You people display so much emotion and demonstrate infinite talent with your art that I am in awe as to what I will see whenever I visit the galleries. I myself, am still learning the 'craft', and hope to continue to do so as long as I am able. Thanks again for visiting my page, and a heartfelt 'Thank You' to the artists and merchants here at Renderosity.
A little background....
I am an Engineering Mechanical Designer. I have used a number of different CAD packages over the years, mainly Pro/Engineer. I am just beginning to learn the more 'artistic' packages such as Poser, 3DSMax, and Bryce. The capabilities of these programs are truly amazing, only limited by one's imagination. I have painted, rather poorly, over the years in different mediums; watercolors, oils, pencils. I enjoyed it but never was enraptured by it, mostly because I am color blind and mixing paints can be a disaster for me. (She won't even let me pick the housepaint!) Over the past few years in the Engineering field, I have been asked to do renderings of various projects and found this aspect the most rewarding part of the project. The newer generation of CG enhanced films just fueled the fire. Over the past few months I have started to attempt to learn these tools. IT'S FUN!!! However, you know the 'old dog, new tricks' thing. Its been a gradual learning curve. Hopefully some progress can be seen in my gallery work. In the future, I hope to be able to return to the community, models or something that might be useful to someone. Thanks again and God Bless.

This is EXCELLENT. He's a very convincing pirate captain. Great composition and lights, and his outfit is wonderful. I would love to see more of this guy.

Love the richness of this--the color of the night sky, the way his hand with the cup seems to pop out of the picture. He looks like DeNiro a bit! Since you ask for suggestions, I'd offer that he could use more of a "glint" in his eyes, which might be accomplished with just a suggestion of a reflection, very subtle, but can really help.

I agree with pookah...this pirate does have a bit of DeNiro in him. I think the image is excellent as well, however IMO something needs to be done about the mug. Texture, bump, or something. Maybe some liquid. As it is, it looks like part of the image that the artist "forgot" to texture. Other than that though I think this kicks major buttocks!

Great scene making, what a fun and excellent render :) and youre right, its uncanny... we should send a copy to DeNiro for his birthday :)Happy Birthday Ryan!

It's superb. I agree with GabrielK's suggestion regarding the mug. Give it a texture/bump map to resemble hand beaten pewter.
