Captain Jack Black - Revised by Tim Barnett Well, what can I say? You folks have supplied some wonderful suggestions for improving my last image. Thank You! I've tried my best to use your ideas in this revised, new, and hopefully improved Captain Jack. I don't know if it's got the 'oomph' that Carolly was talking about, but I think it definately looks better and I know that Ryan will love it. Special thanks to daverj, leather-guy, hauksdottir, PhoenixRising, karen1573, Suede, bip77, svdl, pookah69, GabrielK, BekaVal and SamTherapy. Fantastic ideas and I have learned a lot. Comments and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for the help. Now that is a great composition. I love to see works like this come from something good to something better :)

It's unbelievably good. By that I mean "excellent", as much as we love to throw the word around, it really is. Just one further suggestion - a little postwork on the ale spilling from the mug (great texture on the mug, by the way) and ont the edges of the liquid on the deck, which looks a little like plastic at the moment. It's so close to perfection, so why not go all the way?

Yeah that mug looks awesome now. I think I preferred the deck dry though. As much butt as the last version kicked, this one kicks even more butt!

This version is much better, more dynamic and "real" looking.

That mug looks excellent now. A definite improvement over the first version, which was already very good. I agree with SamTherapy, the ale could use some touchups. Can you make froth on the ale? That would really be cool. (Sorry, can't help you with tips on that, my postwork skills are nonexistent). Some more transparency to the liquid on the deck would make it better. Glad you kept the many excellent things of the previous render.

Not sure if I commented on the original, but this is really well done, as was the other. I love his expression and the attention to detail is superb...

I'll agree with the comments on the puddle being too thick (it should look more like a damp spot on the floor), but over all this is a wonderful picture now: full of zest and interest. While the eyes keep going back to the face, they take note of all the details. Good job!
