Description

------------- Friggia

In the northlands of Callona, Apos disappears from the sky for months on end. The sky freezes and the ground is lost beneath snow and ice for six to eight months of the year. But there in the lands collectively known as Hergovine, where the Viking Thane rules those few lands that are hospitable enough to farm during the short summer and rich enough to mine the rest of the year, there is a legend of a land that is even colder. When Hergovite sailors gather around the fires in port cities to swap lies about their sea travels and adventures in far lands, it isn't the ice continent of Polaris at the north pole that they shudder to speak of, it the island of Friggia.

Laying off the shore of Norkos, the north-easternmost region of Hergovine, the island of Friggia is home to no human nation. It is not a colony for any raiders from the sea or elven power of magic. It serves as no safe port from the vicious storms of the northern Atlantian Ocean. It has no hearth or fires or warm villages to welcome travelers. It is a land of Frost Giants and White Dragons, of horrid ice demons called Blumorgs, and wandering bands of Walrusmen. Those unfortunate enough to be shipwrecked there do not live long. If the elements do not claim them, the ice bound beasts that ravage the land will.

Yet there are stories of those who have not only survived there, but who have adventured there on purpose. And it is just those wild tales of high adventure that keep drawing the foolish and the brave to their frigid deaths on that warmth forsaken block of ice. For the land is also rumored to be the earthly home of the eternal spirit of ice and snow, the Goddess the Palleuravallan Elves call The Winter Witch.

The attention to details is amazing. The footsteps in the snow, the disruption of the smooth surface where her legs and feet, and even her spear touch the ground, the icy coloration of the spearhead, everything. Fabulous image, and everything is just perfect. Vote.
