A coastal relic living in Campbell River, BC., rattling around the beaches and the bush. Hobbies are anything nautical, unsuccesful prospecting and treasure hunting, gardening and photography. Have built and operated 5 commercial salmon/log salvage boats, and still love playing with tools, and messing about in boats.BIO"I have often thought in all the world, The saddest thing to be; Old admirals that feel the wind, But never put to sea." Al Stewart, fron Past, Present, and Future. After a lifetime of fishing, beachcombing,(log salvage) and generally messing about, health issues have put me on the beach for good. You never completely get the salt water out of your veins, though. This gallery gives me a chance to fish some memories out of shoe boxes and share them, something that's rapidly becoming another hobby. I began fishing for money at age 11, 6 if you count trading rockcod for popsicles. I hope you enjoy my reminiscing.

I always have this perputual argument about nature...is it chaos or is there some order to it? It's a perfect cycle dictated to by the seasons and elements and never, ever boring. So much is taken for granted now but nature will always win in the end. By the way...have a look at "Monolith" my latest upload...there's a surprise for you. DA

Good depth here. I think this background would be great for a portrait.

what goes up, eventually comes down & the process continues to replenish the soil... you have kind of a fractal going on here with all the branches, nice moss too... & better then alright :]

Very interesting the story of the widow maker. A lovely image too! Love the green of the moss and how it stands out against the orange of the split tree. Thank you for sharing! Redundant has a point, this would make a lovely backdrop for a portrait! :) Hugs

love the image...reminds me once again of Colorado. (it seems the only time they'd fall there was in the middle of the night when we were camping and the crack the breaking trunk made always woke me up. hehe)

Love the woods....Dont get to take enough walks in them lately though. Seems like I did much more when I was living in Pennsylvania.Very nice "woodsy" shot!

Thank god, none of them did hit you! Any idea on why they come down? Rotten roots, parasites or the like? Just age ... which will have all of us coming down one day? Anyways ... wonderful impression from over there. Thank you Jim!!
