Description

I mentioned the TR Fleet Carriers in the "Hand of God" series, but since they were not involved in the Arak 4 Incident, nothing more was added about them until now. Pictured are the 'Andrews' and the 'Newvinksi' leaving space dock to join their task forces. The Halsey-class Fleet Carrier is approximately twice the size of the present US Navy Nimitiz-class supercarriers. It has a crew of 8,000, carries 150 fighters, bombers, and miscellaneous support craft, mounts four batteries of eight-inch guided projectile weapons as main guns as well as another 20 five-inch batteries and 10 high speed gatling batteries, and four torpedo/missile tubes (two fore and two aft). The Halseys can transport up to four Havoc-class destroyers or similar-sized transport vessels on her main deck using docking hardpoints, but can not carry any escorts internally. The Halsey is a design based on old seafaring technology that was translated to space ops when humanity went to the stars. I'm (literally) working on a render that does a size comparison between the Hand of God- and Halsey-class vessels. I'll post it tomorrow. Thx for looking and commenting! Side note: After almost four months, the job drought is temporarily over for me. I landed a two month contracting gig helping a company (and their existing Tech Pubs group) get through a product release (we'll see if it turns into anything longer). So no more sleeping into noon for the next couple of months--yeah, right, like I was... ;')

WOW. Always love your ships ... Good luck on the work gig. Money is sortta fun sometimes - so long as it dont take your time away from your art. LOL.

Fine ship, the seafaring ship resemblence adds well to the "believability" of the design.. well done

Bad news folks, I came home from my first day at work to a render machine reporting a dead primary drive. I will be down for a while. 8'(
