Description

* Days I passed in my beloved shell, days of love, and days of care... Now I live abroad, I see just seldom the bright sun whose rayes caresses you, my Florence, my beloved friend: But you're within for every day that I won't catch your golden walls, your rooftops and stairs. The smallest glimpse of your lookin life and my joy sparkles, and my soul raises. Wherever I am , or I'm gonna be, I am daughter yours, for all I live.* ------------- Picture taken with Canon IXUS 400, in October 2002, no postwork. Location, Via De'Benci, Firenze. ------------------------ This morning that I am back in Florence, and the sun shines so bright.. I felt all the love for my town getting so huge I had to find a way to compose a hymn for it. This picture is gonna be in an album soon updated in my website among others (it's a life that I don't update that section.. sorry), and I thought about sharing it. It was way too long I didn't contribute to this gallery, and so I hope you all enjoy.

It is fantastic honey. :) I have no words... :) The colour that the camera can bring gives it an extra effect but it is the idea behind it that always matters the most. And the idea you have in this one is wonderful. It would really fit in a professional's best of pic list...so amazing. :) And the poem is wonderful too. I know exactly how it is. Even though I hate my hometown a bit (understatement as you know.. ;)). But there is something there that has shaped me. For good and for bad. But it has a piece of me that I can only find there. And I get a longing for that piece, when I read your poem and see your picture. :)

Meli, you live in the city which I prefer in Italy. Florence is a fabulous city with magnificent monuments and museums and its Ponte Vecchio so romantic. A beautiful photo with a particular atmosphere and the sepia colour give it still more character. Excellent shot... Bravissimo !

Awesome photo and a touching poem. Lucky you that have a town that fills you with so much love! As you and I both have an Ixus 400, I have to ask if the beautiful sepia is made by the camera or by postwork.

Meli, I love this photo. Great focus and contrast from the highlights on the wall to the shadows around the door. The texture on the curtain is wonderful as well. I also think that the gold tone you gave this really emphasizes what you said in your poem. One question though, what are those guys doing with that curtain on the end of the crane. I have never seen anything like this before and I am very curious about it.

I find it so amusing that you use a 4 Megapixel high-tech camera to turn out a photo that looks "old" - sepia tones and all. Just a thought. :) Nice picture.
