I've been a 3d "hobby artist" on and off since sometime around 2000 or so. I've never stuck with it long enough to get good or to learn any advanced techniques, but when I do "play around" I have fun.
I also started messing around with vector drawing, as I can't really draw. Using vector allows me to utilize shape deformation and tweaking to create my scenes.
As of right now, July 2018, I'm working hard toward a goal I've had for a decade plus, and that is to make physical card, dice and board games for adults as well as animations and some simple video games. To that end, I'm developing my own characters in vector. The style is simplistic but I believe it will be really good once I have several items completed.

much bettre Cal... keep trying with the fog effect.. eventually it'll click and you'll go "that's how it's done!" 8 ) and if you're like me promptly forget what you did 8 )

Wow! This is much better! But if I may interject my two cents: I would change the bone texture of the skeleton to something slightly darker to show aged and weather bones. It was after all, exposed to the elements. Great job over all though!

Thank you both. I am like you Wizzard..I will make a major break through then forget what it was...but that is what girlfriend's are for. To remember the things I always forget. ;-) I agree about the bone texture dglidden. I have yet to find something I like. If I could find something along the lines of how the dragons hip bones came out, that would make me happy...but currently I only have one texture for it. I am very pleased to hear that this one looks better. Thank you both, again.... --Eryk

It has improved tremendously. I don't know about the bones as mentioned above. I thought they got whiter. I mean look at the dead corpses in the desert when you wander thru. They seem whiter than possible.

thank you KiDAcE. You are right about sun bleached bones...but in an area like I have here, where the elements change so often, the bones would take on a more abused, dirty look. LOL.."look at the dead corpses in the desert when you wander thru." You make it sound like a common thing to do on a lazy sunday afternoon. :) --Eryk

Looks much better Eryk. For the bones, just off the top of my head, why not try mxing your current bone material with, say the "mossy rock" material under the "rocks" directory, and make it altitude-dependant, appearing on flat surfaces, with maybe around a 35-40% mixture... maybe more, maybe less; all those materials respond differently to percentage mixtures. Set the mixture as "object", and not "world" under tha altitude dependancy. As for the fog, try a thickness of around 10, and an altitude-dependent thickness of around .5-.6 and looking at this, I'd say an altitude of around 21-25....

Very cool..thank you Mike. When I get home tonight I will try these settings. Half of what you are saying is greek to me (and I don't speak greek). :) You rock..thanks again.
