Description
The soft volcanic "Tuffa" that makes up much of Cappadocia is almost meringue like in the right light.
Before visiting the area I had read up the usual guide books and spoke to plenty of people about the place, but nothing prepared us for the stunning sunrise we witnessed on our arrival in Goreme. A stranger science fiction landscape I've yet to see.
As we wandered through this bizarre land, we came across ancient churches, frescos and dwellings cut out of the living rock. We went from claustraphobia to vertigo and back again constantly. Its the kind of place where you make faces out of rock all day and not feel silly oohing and ahhhing at it!
