Description

Cappadocia again, Pasa Baglari this time (Pasha's vineyard). ~~*~~ Pasa Baglari is well known for its huge triple top fairy chimney. There are two rooms inside, once used by the 5th century monk St.Simeon. The eroded soft rock formations can take on bizarre and grotesque shapes, helped along by its unnatural fleshy colour. ~~*~~ We were inside one of these old dwellings, looking about, when a delightful little local lad (about 6 or 7)introduced himself. We were impressed by his attempts at English, and passed on to him the few Turkish words and phrases we had picked up. Along came the boys little dog and he introduced him to us as "Jasper Carrot" Thats Turkey I suppose!

I doubt is was glacial, there were three volcanos in the region which let off at different times causing strata of different hardness. In general the Tuffa is soft and crumbly and erodes very easily, but is also ideal for building houses in.

Great Shot! Must be a wonderful place. The title reminds me that 'Old Man of the Mountain' (in Vermont?) is no more. Photography is so much more than an art form. Our collective memories are logged in them.
