two options, hold at the clip/drum or on the barrel itself. Notice there is an outer metal cage. This allowed the shooter to hold on while firering. This mg is designed for short bursts and so there wasn't much of a heating problem unlike the MG42 (Axis) that could literally melt the barrel with it's rate of fire but it was on a tripod. Beautiful image.

In the winters of the Barbarossa campaign, or the Great Patriotic War, most of the troops were well gloved, so they could be held by the barrel with little discomfort to the user. They were a popular gun. Even the Germans used them when they could find them. Stunning picture!

Thank you guys for explanations ;).I saw old movies from WWII and how red army soldiers held ppsh below drum. But that was somehow weird, like you can't have right grip. I think that this weapon didn't have good accuracy.

best hold probably clip itself (drum, banana too). holding barrel uncomfortable, and if you want firm grip, you cant hold it like in vietcong game, as this covers your sight. aditionally, i have spagin in my hand personally, and holding around barrel is really unconformable and unsteady for fire, as you must have your han stretched forward, clip itself is quite forward placed compared to today smgs.

quote to material - something showing more wear and dirt will probably look better. modeling excellent, lot of work probably? one more note to mat: these guns were maked in great numbers, and cheapest way. Screw under barrel was prob. just rivet. bolt of the one i seen wasnt grinded, resp. had two grinded rings in front and back, othervise it was just spinned on lathe, with rough track of it on its surface. but do not ge too distracted by those facts from modelling, you are good at it.
