Description

This image will be used in a chapter of my upcoming book. It will be in greyscale though, to make it cheaper. It might be improved a bit before being included in the book. It was made in Cinema4D XL7 and it uses radiosity and only two lighs.

Thank you all. This is almost all NURBS modeling. The texturing is also mostly procedural (SLA). The rendering time? Around 45 minutes.

If your book will teach me how to do that id be sure to get it! Looks FANTASTIC. As always imagination and fun make learning so much better. Thanks

My book will teach techniques that are a bit over the basic stuff the manual teaches. I will teach how to model a single mesh object, like this clay figure, for instance. I will also teach how to create complex textures (bitmap and procedural) like the ones on this render. I will not teach how to do this exact image but I will teach the techniques that allow to make it.

I love this image. This shows the output C4D is capable of. I look at the work in this web-sites C4D section and although some of it is very good I don't see many pieces that make effective use of C4D's renderer. In the right hands it can surpass max quite comfortably and probably matches Lighwave. Bravo this image! :) p.s. I was'nt having a dig at anyone in case thats how it came across. Everyone keep up the good work!

It's true sdaniels. I agree that the renderer of Cinema4D, if well explored can easily surpass the one in 3DS. The lights are amazingly flexible and the texturing is very easy an logical. I love it.

Wow, feel like I could throw a lump of clay in and start sculpting as soon as you're done. This looks so real.
