Description

Something quite different this time... I really got inspired by all the beautiful still-life's from the Cinema4D-gallery and wanted to see if I could achieve the same feeling with Vue. I used 11 lights, 2 of which are volumetric. The flowers are Xfrog (of course :) Please tell me what you think, as I might work a little bit more on it (therefore I haven't uploaded it to my website yet). www.thomaskrahn.com Thanks for viewing! :) Thomas ...thanks a lot to Martin Ernst for the beautiful barrels and pots! - UPDATE - Well.. I decided to change it. I've uploaded a new version, because my entire family voted for the cropped version. I hope you like it better now! :)

I love the top half of the image, Thomas, magical lighting, very subtle. I find the lower half very distracting, not sure if something is there or not.

I like this a lot Thomas it has a more artlike quality than some of those awesome 4D photorealistic images..The lighting and use of blur for DOF is all spot on!!

Wonderful lighting. I'm still a bit unsure about the composition. But still, very well done.

This looks interesting and very artistic. I think you should work a little on the balance/composition (e.g. moving the background barrel a little to the right) and some more "action" in the lower areas OR a different cropping. The lighting looks really good, here your fascination (I guess) of the "clair-obscure" technique is at its best. Keep going, looking real good.

Wonderful!! Really! and the composition is ok - u might wanna add something in the lower part - the table top looks as if it were floating... maybe a slight illumination of the table's legs :) i love the very slight "granulated" effect of the entire render... very subtle but very effective. in fact, i've been meaning to ask you this ever since i visited your gallery in the first place: does this effect come with the Vue render or is it postwork? Excellent!!

I admit i can't see anything wrong with the composition. This is fascinating. I dare say you are starting a journey here towards higher artistic levels. A bold step, what will come next? Fantastic image. My vote.

Excellent light work and love the painted look produced by the DOF and vol light. Better than realism. The re-centering of the object that you have done works very well. Beautiful image.

This is really art and I love it. You're advancing fast and you prove that it's not a must to have a 1st class render engine, but you need the ideas, the eye and the skills. ...and you're inspiring me constantly. By the way, I second the coments from Djeser and lahavana. There seems to be something missing in the lower half. Excellent anyway.

Your mastery of DOF effects is very pleasing. Interesting subtle perspective here, too, as if we're looking throught the eye of some small animal. Terrific work!

Excellent image Thomas! Your eye is drawn immediately to the flowers but I do love the smokey atmosphere behind the barrel, giving it a dusty quality.
