Description

Who sheds a tear upon the grave of a living soldier? The lives they stole bore scars into their hearts; hands to their heads they wept of their own atrocities, marking on the wall of their mind each man until it grows into a cloud of nameless faces. The binds of nature broken: killing without cause, no reason, no means, just an end. Walking the cheerless scope of endless paths that lead to yet more artillery, yet more slaughtering machines, some may realize this. Some may look upon their fatigues and see their own degradation, feel the weighty bodies of their victims pile upon their conscience in a heap of ruination. The man is dead. If not the man, the mind. Living in a timeless world of white walls and wheel chairs, bobbing their head to the non existent sound of mortar shells and gunfire. In this reverie they may walk the lonely path once again, tramp through sand and mud to the machine they once knew as a friend, feel its callous metal body and realize how cold, so cold, it is.

I know nothing of composites, but I know about art. This piece is tastefully done, the writing is clearly inspired and insightful; the sepiatone appearance and granulated texture of this piece conveys the atmosphere well. I can easily imagine this render as a photograph in a war museum. And that's a sick artillery model.

I don`t care how much is Bryce and how much photograph, this is a wonderful image, especially with the prose. It gets my vote.

Lost for words, its difficult to express the feelings this evokes, but so true, so realistic.

At the risk of being trounced, here's my constructiveness (all the hyperboles are already taken anyway): The machinery has a little too much yellow in it to match the tone of the photo. I think it needs to be desaturated a little more. Also, the DOF of the machine doesn't match the photo (there's some crispness in the front and mid-left of the machine that doesn't match the surroundings). One other small detail: the shadows are a little too black (more desaturation needed), especially in the back. The shadow edges are a little too hard, too. Nice work, regardless.

Thanks for the constructive criticism man, Yeah, I agree, especially on the saturation points and the shadow. Couldn't quite get that the way I wanted it. This was my first attempt at an image like this, and was more going for the mood. But I agree with you completely.
