Description

UF3 Theres something about the shadows under the sphere that dont seem quite right to me, but i cant put my finger on it, nor seem to get them into the right position so they look 'right' So i decided to upload it anyway. Thanks for looking, if you have any suggestions please feel free to offer them :)

Wonderful textured backdrop for this beautiful jewel. I think the shadows are dramatic and work well, but I'm not good enough with light and shadow to seriously critique it.

There are two light spots on the orb. The brightest one is roughly at the 10 o'clock position in the front section. This would cast a shadow to the rear of the orb at approximately 4 o'clock to the rear. You seem to have gotten it at 4 o'clock in the front. The dimmer light spot shouldn't give you much problems, so I wouldn't worry about it. I've done light experiments in Bryce quite frequently before creating fractals. I've never done this with UF, so I can't give you much help on how to fix it, just what is apparently wrong. Other than that, the orb is beautiful. Hope this helps.

It seems to indicate the surface under the orb is uneven. It looks fine, if that is the case.

Beautiful black pearl! I Love it's irredescent sheen. The burnt parchment in the background is nice as well. I am untrained in the placement of shadow and light direction, the results look fantastic to me.

Wow! Excellent sphere, Kim! I like its transparency and the texture overlaid on the glowing lights inside. Maybe just dimming the opacity of the shadow might help and a different merge mode? Dunno - the background seems to fold under it anyhow and it doesn't look none too shabby as is!

Re the comment re the highlights - IMHO it makes it look like it is soon going to split into two like a seed pod or maybe a self-replicating xmas tree decoration. The background is ancient and irreal, like a lost rotted old bible (or something) Is this helpful? Not really - but it shows that it provoked my imagination. It takes a lot to do that.
