Persians: Our arrows will blot out the sun
Spartans: so much the better, we shall fight in the Shade....great work..as the phalanx advances, all the spears would come down forward..but then they wouldn't show up..didn't know there was a contingent from the Isle of Man (the device on the leftmost shield), but it's a great job of texturing..let's see more..

"Our army is great", says the Persian, "and because of the number of our arrows, you will not see the sky!" Then the Spartan responds: "Therefore, we will fight in shadow!" And Leonidas, the king of the Spartans, shouts: "Fight with courage, Spartans; today, we will perhaps dine among the shadows!" Excellent work!!! Bravo!!!

Great stuff! I think the Phalanx's spears were even taller. That was their real tactical edge over all of their enemies. A bristling wall of spikes, almost unapproachable. Phillip's and Alexander's secret weapon that laid entire armies to waste.
