Description

A shallow windswept lake between Canmore and Dead Man's Flats, on the north side of the Trans-Canada Highway. It is a favorite for windsurfers braving the lake's just-above-freezing temperatures. On the north side of the lake is a limestone quarry for the manufacture of concrete. I find the incongruity of the industrial complex situated in the pristine mountains both interesting and disconcerting. This was a fly-by shooting...I should have spent a little more time here 'cause the panorama would have been a lot larger and of better quality had I used my tripod. The left and right ends were too blurry. It was a little cold...

Sopunds familiar, no time, because of the cold and the unwilling body, that wants warm an comfy :) None the less a stunning shot, with this blue all over, and the factory is a nice bonus, love the little lights there.

a fly-by shooting... like in a plane? maybe too literal... :] ever so slight as to the blur but it looks pretty dang good to me! such a fabulous pan & color... does look a bit unusual to have the plant in such a beautiful landscape... but it adds much

ugh, I'm with Cyn, what an excellent shot even if it was a fly by. Panoramic gives such granduer and scale to this image! Amazing that a refinery is in the midst of these beautiful mountains! Excellent!

One the one hand, that industrial complex ruins the whole landscape, on the other hand, it makes this pano even more better?

My thoughts exactly Raven...I think that the shot would be a little too boring without the plant. It would have needed an island or some trees in the foreground for some kind of a size reference.

Hand held?..... you're good! Fabulous image, and I agree that the plant adds interest. Does seem strange in such a gorgeous mountain scene.

This is one of the most beautiful pan i've ever seen, Com'on they are many great panorama ! Yes but at night with this special light you have only on the north !! I agree with with Raven427 the place of the factory in this pan is not so bad, it gives a SF mood (quite !) to the whole stuff. Hey Matt, you're great !
