Description

The quince flowers were white prior to when I put the miniature tree next to a beehive. Now they're pink, and the stamen/pistil structure is different. The local botanist theorized that when flowers turn pink after pollination, this drastically reduces their UV reflectance, making them less attractive to bees. This means the bees waste less energy on pollinated flowers, and just stick to their job, which is visiting unpollinated flowers.
