Description
The Sydney Funnel Web Spider (Atrax Robustus) is one of the world's most poisonous spiders. Taking up to eight years to reach sexual maturity, these spiders roam in the wet summer months, dying soon after breeding. The male Funnel Web is five times more toxic than the female, yet only to primates and humans, most other animals are unaffected.

While not being an arachnophobe this one sent a chill down my spine. One could almost ask if the spider is 'worshipping' the bottle cap or making threatening gestures at it, but I know what my reaction to it is. An interesting statement nature made by making the funnel web so toxic to humans and apes. Beautiful work, Cassie hugs and special thoughts go out to you for this one.

Thanks AD and Ava HUGS I should have mentioned in my little speal that this is a typical attack pose for the Funnel Web, rearing up so it can sink those enormous fangs deeply ;)

I know those things like to hang out on lightswitches and in toilets.;) Get pretty big too! Nice work, Cassie! :0)

Nicely done image, but if you don't mind, this is as close as I ever hope to get to one of them! =;)

Fantastic work (as ALWAYS). For one thing, the colors are killer! I think the hair on the spider makes it look even more creepy. Kudos on another amazing image:)
titta
Looks really frightening! And big! Wonderfully painted!

Great picture for the theme! The bottle cap gives me a good idea of the size. It's kind of like a taranchula(sp?) It's stangly beautiful, but I'm just as glad not to see one up close and personal.

Excellent one for the theme, but not so pleasing to meet. I am not afraid of spiders (in Sweden we have only harmless ones) but I would not like to meet this one. As usual, you have made it so real that it is almost surreal. When I try to project myself into your painting I am so small beside this monster :-)

Excellent painting Cassie, very scary pose you captured that with such realism I'm backing off right now lol! Great work ; )

Great work!:D That's one freaky picture and I'm quite glad not to be that unfortunate bottle cap;) I like the legs best in this picture, the detail and contours of them are so realistic.
