Description
Monument Valley. A true place of Beauty. A scared place to the Navajo Indians.
A Place of the Long Shadows..
Day is done and the land will soon belong to the creatures of the Desert. Badgers, Coyote, Snakes, Kangaroo Rats and all things that crawl. The heat will leave the land and towards dawn dew will form giving some moisture to this beautiful but dry land. As the sun will raise the cycle will start over again. During the night some have survived and will be back tonight. Maybe this time there will be prey and not see the next night.
The 2 top buttes are West and East Mitten butte. The butte in the center right below them is Merrick Butte. Mitchell Butte is to the left out of the map.
Merrick and Mitchell were prospectors who found silver in this are, both were killed by the Indians. There were buried where they were found.
The large mesa to the left is Mitchell Mesa. To the right we have Elephant Butte. S/E is the Window and Artist Point. The mesa at the bottom is Rain God Mesa. To the right of that is Spearhead Mesa. This area is under the control of the Navajo Indians. Permission is needed to drive the scenic route. Do not leave the road, this is their sacred land.

Frank this is really cool POV! The buttes are amazing at this height! Very nice writing on this too! I know about the sacred Lands and how the Navajo's feel about certain places. Thanks for the history..:)

The story is as usual a really great story. Regarding Terragen, interesting pov here. Surfaces could be improved, and, if you wnat to have a more accurate view, try to reduce the haze percentage

I've been here several times over the years and still am amazed at the size of these monoliths. Frank, you have done this one well. Excellent render including the history.

Great render, and brilliant surfacing. Excellent narrative again, the history of a landscape's as important as the picture.
