Description
Almost as far back as I can remember I was prone to slipping into intensely contemplative daydreams revolving around the concept of infinity. There is a great thrill received when you are able work yourself into this state of intense concentration. The thrilling part occurs just before you hit a wall and have to whole experience shatter as you have reached the limits of your mind. It

k... you're scaring me now... atheism is fine but this is almost evil! o.O! oh... i get it... either your pupils are now on the wall with the others or they've revolved inward ... infinite exploration!... :]

It's not meant to be "evil" To me, "evil" is a goofy word. :)

Ah, a fellow athiest.. though we all have different reasons and meanings for athiesm.. I am one that does not completely believe in infinity, but that is one part of life that man might never understand. ;) When I saw the thumbnail for this, I thought it meant blindness, but now I think its looking in on yourself. Anyways, excellent photo. =)

This is a very cool work. Los ojos son la puerta del alma y esta foto sin ojos se ve fria y sin sentimientos, uno le puede dar los sentimieontos que uno mismo tiene dentro de su ser. Cada cual vera esta foto como se siente por dentro. I just see an "emty soul" that what it meants to me.

The eyes are meant to portray the vast and frightning profundity of infinity.....glazed over in intense thought rather than blindness.

This sure is of an Infinite Depth....with, or without Eyes....You are Gorgeous! flutter flutter muuuuuuuuuuuuah!

I agree with most of what you write, if not all. I am a very carefully considered atheist, and have spent my life doing what I wanted as opposed to what was expected, and perhaps sometimes what was best for me. No regrets. I'm at the stage now where most of my exploring has been done, I wish you well with the rest of yours.

I am not an Athiest, I just don't believe in organized religion. Looking deep into oneself and contemplating a question that may or may not be answered. Actually this is a brilliant image, a little dark and frightening, but still brilliant! While I may not share your views on religion, I certainly understand the message and the trance that is the result of deep thought. Did that make any sense? ;)

Fantastic postwork , very well done .Composition and light are perfect, excellent VOTE

I agree with Nilla. I maintain that religious people often suffer with confused motives. Another question. Why are we afraid of death? Someone once said (about the war) 'there are no atheists in a foxhole'. The photo: Looks like a cross between Star Trek officer whatsit and a GQ cover. Stirring debate.

Quote:"the thrilling part occurs just before you hit a wall and have to whole experience shatter as you have reached the limits of your mind." .... Well, now, in "my" case, that only takes a 'nano' second or two??? (lol) .... superb composition.

He looks possest or haunted..well...anyone can beelive in what ever..........we are built of carbon...sort of infinit material.....The answer perhaps we got when we dies...but for me..the most important issiue is to live as good as I can here and NOW!!! I get spooked of the image but I think its an excellent work! Carpe diem! :)

Great and intense shot you've done here (excellent)...The thing is...I do not judge if one is Atheist, religious, spiritual or whatever one may catogorize themselves...what I do see is who the person is inside and love them for that. We know nothing and yet we pretend to know everything...so what is the answer some may ask...belief or not..you will know in the end.

Striking work, Matt! Your postwork rocks! You've left me deep in thoughts, man!

Yes, a linear thinker, in my opinion, is one who hits the walls of their mind. Many spiritual people believe beyond their own existence breaking through the barriers of ones mind; we have no walls; we believe there is no end. Fear of death is not the inspiration of our beliefs, we run deeper than that. Most Christians do not judge the Book by its cover, instead we study so that we may decide in an intellectual manner if we choose to believe or not. Only then, can one truly make an educated judgement by looking to see what is beneath the exterior, whatever that exterior may symbolize, be it book, religion, or person. On a lighter note, I compliment you on this photo. It is very sexy! ;)

MzQt - "Yes, a linear thinker, in my opinion..." ...you have already argued my point, but you will never grasp this...Your "lack of walls" IS A WALL in and of itself.

The only thing that I know for sure is that I don't truly know anything....I think that that is an acceptable and reasonable paradox. The word "Atheist" most closely describes my mental inclination. I wish there was another word besides the repugnant "Agnostic." "Non-atheist" is a term I have come across (practically unknown), but for the sake of familiarity I currently choose "Atheist."

This is a great image Matt (a bit creepy also!).. For the discussion: For years, I've been knocking my head about this infinity issue also :-)) I have chosen to believe a creator; especially after beginning to study science. There is order among a wildly chaotic building blocks.. How could it be? Physical laws? Not enough for any deep thinker.. We cannot suggest that even a simple nail can come into exsistence by accident or by its own will.. But this universe is far more complex then a nail.. I personally cannot give this honor to uncontrolled, blind coincidances.. And I am agree with the point about human mystery.. If mind is not exist, there is noting.. Mind makes it sense, an observer is needed for the universe is to be exist.. So as a matter of fact, we "are" the universe and first of all, we have to look inside, very deeply and carefully; as you depicted here elegantly :-)) Thanks for the mind stimulation :-))) Last word: Is God is an invention of man? I think this is not an sicentifically testable argument :-)))

How dare you be so selfish as to not beleive in god.......and strap this bomb to youself .....and kill for me.....how barbaric can you be? :0)

Couldnt agree with you more on your statements Matt as i am an atheist myself. Ive had many confrontations an discussions with religios people too and in the end the only thing they can say is "It must be true, God must exist". But i never in my life heard credible argument why he/she/it/whatever must exist... Not get me wrong, i respect religeous people just as much as a-religeous people, but some are just outright ignorant. Kick-ass artwork Matt, love it !! Have to vote too :o)
