Description
One of my favorite art books is
"Drawing The Human Head" by Burne
Hogarth. He goes into great detail
through visually stunning artistic pieces
and wonderful explanations of the particular
differences in the face, head, eyes,
ears, nose, throat and jawline. He also
illustrates the sometimes very subtle
nuances that occur in the regions of one
country (for instance). This sketch of
mine, referenced by his sketch, of
the South African Bushman is just one
of a series I will be working on.
I used 5H, H, HB, B and 2B pencils for
the sketch...done on watercolor rough
cut paper. The background, burnt edges,
photo frame, gold roses, eye and soft
focus were done through PSP 8 and Photo
Impact Pro. I hope you like it.
Have a wonderful and blessed day and I thank you all for your patience!...Cheryl

Art books provide fascinating insight into how models are obtained. Emphasis on dignity often obsures what spontaneity could provide to a quicker media. Time is almost unmeasured in this work.

Luv your work - I think you did a nice job adding a little sparkle and gold here but I think Dan would agree these are tough people - and the sparkle in thier eye image is a bit unreal :)

Loving your drawings as always Cheryl, interestingly I'm going to Zimbabwe this summer for my Brothers wedding confermatoin there. It is great how to see you progressing still through pictures (I'm sorry I've not had so much time to pursue gallerys recently due to lots going on) Keep on drawing :) Huggs, Satern.

OMG Cheryl! This is truly remarkable pencil work... I love it. As always, I am particularly drawn to your shading. So much detail you have created with your understanding of the concept. Wonderful work my dear.
