Description

somewhere it is Spring and sometimes people are in real:imagine somewhere real flowers, but I can't imagine real flowers for if I could, they would somehow not Be real. EE Cummings. ~~~ How often do we overlook the beautiful, exotic or rare people in our lives, or look at them only to scorn and bring low? How often are we too preoccupied in our own lives to notice the precious things around us? How often do these people struggle to find an identity amidst the grey oppression that surrounds them? How many give up and succumb to the ordinary? When who we are and finding our own sense of worth is a struggle everyone strives to succeed at is trampled by those who are jealous, ignorant or apathetic it seems a shame that the best joys can often wither and die before they fully take root. We all risk slipping into that mindless zone that is the social 'norm', to forget what is real, what is worth living for. Some people cannot forgat and these people can put colour into our lives if only we look for them and open our hearts, reach out to them and let them in. Look around yourself, really look, and you can see these people. Extend a hand out to them, and put some colour into your life, and more importantly, put a little colour back. ~~~ For Cassie, whose disillusioned angel inspired this. Although I'm aware that there's more than one error as far as proportions and lighting goes, what I'm really after are some comments on technique, as this is the first drawing I've done in PS with a tablet, and really pretty much the first actual drawing I've done in PS at all. So help me out here, can people give me some advice on what to do next time I try it? I used Burn a lot and a bit of Smudge and Dodge as well as a brush I adapted. ~All comments welcome~

Thank you SO very much for this my dear friend, (I'm sorry I didn't comment sooner as it seems that my R'osity ebots are lost somewhere in cyberspace.), this is truly beautiful. IMO a true artwork surpasses technique as the message and emotion captured within is so clear that it impacts to the soul, just as this does :) Thank you, thank you, thank you HUGS

Cassie is all of this and more, she is even the person I would give the most credit to for my recent "unblocking" and feeling of empowerment. I just adore her, she's amazing. Thank you Ava for doing this and for being a part of her circle of valued friends :-)
I'm not sure about artistic critique as I don't know how "stylised" you are aiming to be here, but it brings the message across, a "simple" but beautiful flower blooming among the masses of blind people chasing their tails in our so-called civilization. That's Cassie :-)

You've done such a beautiful job with this, AvaBIG HUG Especially for a first try drawing in PS! I find drawing on the computer so hardL The shading and shadows are so soft and rich, I love it. The little boy reaching for the flower amidst all the grey makes me think of the Dark Tower books. It's a perfect gift and wonderful work:D
